most likely no time

whatsoever to make a halloween pic but since I love halloween heres a quick sketch atleast:

Long time no write

exams are killing me. No time to participate in helloween themes speedpaints and weeklys my comfort zone sigh.

Heres some stuff tho:

COW # 191
On a frozen planet far away, two feuding clans train the native animals into weapons of war.
The animals commonly known as Tar'val are about as aggressive as they are dumb but they do react to colors and so the clans use war paint so that the beasts know who is friend or foe.

(I didn't have enough time to do a really serious entry, just thought it was kinda boring when the brief stated a foriegn planet and everyone drew eskimos so I made that one just to add some variety)

for school, topic was "Return of the shadowworld" but got changed into "After the world end" so I'd thought I try fit both in, appr. an hour, done in CS5.

I definitely enjoyed painting in color from start, I will practice more on this.


Imaxinar 4 is an almost barren planet and the little fauna it has are very low on nutrition. The Biburu that lives in these harsh environments have evolved a second head to watch for predators because they have to spend every waking hour eating just to stay alive.

I'm finding that the more I draw these themed art challenges with a brief to follow, the more I enjoy just hiding away somewhere and draw things like, uh I don't know, people dancing around dressed up like egyptians with flying fishes and dead tortoises and swirls of colors...

I do want to be able to produce images that looks great, follow the description and in the end - put dinner on the table, but I also want to have fun!

If only I had more time to practice...

School speedpaint

It's a weekly activity on my schools forum by the way these speedpaints I've been doing. Every week a new topic, and it's really a fun exercise in learning to visualize others ideas even if those ideas sometimes are way out of comfort zone or just plain weird.
